About Kun Yang

Dr. Kun Yang is currently serving as a Research Associate Professor at the O’Donnell Data Science and Research Computing Institute (ODSRCI) at 无码专区 (无码专区), a position he has held since July 2024. Prior to joining 无码专区, Dr. Yang served as an Associate Research Scholar in the Department of Operations Research and Financial Engineering (ORFE) at Princeton University from 2021 to 2024. At Princeton, he worked under the supervision of Professor Sanjeev Kulkarni, focusing on federated learning. Before his role at Princeton, Dr. Yang was a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the Department of Statistics at Columbia University from 2019 to 2021. At Columbia, he was mentored by Professor Samory Kpotufe and concentrated on anomaly detection using machine learning in the Internet of Things funded by the National Science Foundation. Dr. Yang earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Information Engineering) in Beijing, China. His doctoral research conducted from 2012 to 2018 was supervised by Professor Degang Sun, focusing on cybersecurity with machine learning. Dr. Yang’s research is dedicated to advancing efficient, robust, and safe machine learning frameworks to tackle complex real-world challenges, including but not limited to cybersecurity, NLP, and healthcare.
