Art Garcia is an artist whose practice includes advertising design, sculpture and site-specific installations informed by our social environment. He founded Graphic Content, Inc. in 1999 and continues to serve as president and creative director. The studio’s design work exists within a desire to continue the practice of the German Bauhaus school and its founding masters. With 40 years of experience, Garcia has been published in AIGA Graphic Design, Communication Arts, Graphis, Type Directors Club, American Illustration and Society of Illustrators. His communication design is in the permanent collection of the Library of Congress. He has produced work for Atmos Energy, The City of Dallas, ÎÞÂëרÇø Meadows School of the Arts, The University of Texas at Dallas, UT Southwestern, The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the U.S. Census and Zale Corporation.

Garcia’s sculpture focuses on surface and seriality, complementing the sensibility of the physical object. His work in Human Nature (2019) offers a collective observation into our social consciousness. He has come to recognize through introspection, that objecthood manifests a dialog with the viewer, transcending the spoken word—what he describes as “a communication with one’s own visual catalog.” Human Nature has exhibited at Connemara Meadow Preserve; The Museum of Biblical Art; State Fair of Texas Sculpture Garden; Sunken Garden Park/San Angelo State University; and University of Alabama Huntsville. His public artworks are in the permanent collections of the City of Dallas, City of El Paso, City of Fort Worth, City of Las Cruces, NM, and City of Sheridan, WY.

Garcia is the recipient of the Dallas Advertising League’s 2000 Minority in Advertising Award. He received his M.A. and M.F.A. from the University of Dallas. He has taught design and sculpture at Dallas College–El Centro, University of Dallas, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, and has guest lectured at Dallas College–Brookhaven, South Arkansas State University, Lamar University, Texas Woman’s University and University of North Texas.

Garcia has two sons and three grandsons, all lovingly called “The Garcia Boys.”
