Meal plan changes

If you need to change your meal plan, email your request to dining@smu.edu.

All resident students are required to purchase a meal plan. First-year and second-year residential students must select The Works meal plan, which offers unlimited meals.

Options by year

First- and second-year residential students are required to select The Works, which offers unlimited meals with 10 guest passes, plus a variety of Flex Dollars.

Third-year and fourth-year residential students have two options:

  1. The Works: offers unlimited meals with 10 guest passes, plus a variety of Flex Dollars; OR
  2. Block 150 offers 150 meals with 10 guest passes, plus a variety of Flex Dollars

Senior and graduate-level resident students and nonresident students have three options:

  1. The Works: offers unlimited meals with 10 guest passes, plus a variety of Flex Dollars; OR
  2. Block 150: offers 150 meals with 10 guest passes, plus a variety of Flex Dollars; OR
  3. Senior Block: offers 50 meals with no guest passes

About Flex Dollars

The Works and Block meal plans include Flex Dollars, which are like a debit card — they are stored-value, declining balance programs. You can use Flex Dollars to buy meals or commodities at any ÎÞÂëרÇø Dining Services location on campus.

Flex Dollar balances carry over from term to term.

The Umphrey Lee Center (RFoC@Lee), Arnold Dining Commons or in McElvaney Hall (Mac’s Place) by using access swipes.

Yes. You can bring up to 10 guests per term, as long as you're present at the time of transaction. If you have The Works or Block 150 Meal Plans, you'll use your guest access swipes, If you're on the Senior Block 50 Meal Plan, you'll pay the door entry rate for guests.

Yes. You can change your meal plan through the last day of the add/drop period. Each student is allowed one meal plan change per term.

If you do not select a different meal plan, you will automatically be enrolled in the same meal plan you chose for the fall term.

Times between standard meal periods are charged at the rate of the preceding meal period.

Yes. Each of the meal plans listed above is available to nonresident students.
